Photo Alignment Materials for LCD
Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD) require a pre-orientation for the “off-state”
Liquid Crystals (LC) act as “light valves”.
In the on-stage light passes from the backlight through various layers to the viewer.
In the off-stage light is absorbed by the polarizers; in this stage the LC’s must orient themselves at the alignment layer.
-> If the pre-alignment in this stage is not perfect, light can pass (light leakage), which results in a poor black stage and as a result a poor contrast will be measured.
Rolic Photo Alignment Materials are long time stable and easy to process in off-set or ink-jet equipment.
For the end consumer the superior performance is visible through high contrast and large wide viewing angle.
